Terminate a laid off tenant?

I have a tenant that recently have got laid off and he is getting government check. And the govmt check will run out in couple of months. He is a manufacturing laborer, and his prospect of getting jobs is next to nil, and he is not accepting lower paying job. Should I give him a termination notice now to avoid "no money for rent" later?
