Tim,
The short answer is yes, the DVD is a distillation of the course in the sense that I write and teach what I know, which is commercial real estate. The DVD presentation has examples of deals not included in the book because when I speak I tend to talk about my most recent deals. Those illustrate how I use due diligence in valuation, create an investment plan, and perform market analysis.
In short, the the DVD is just what the title implies, a guide to getting started in commercial real estate, and the content is tailored for the investor who is making the jump from residential to commercial.
Obviously there is no way to condense the 532 pages of the book into a 2 hour class (or even 8 hours). So if you're wondering which provides the most detail, the book is the more comprehensive resource.
