Alternatives to carpet

I'm getting sick of putting carpet in rental mobile homes only to have the renters ruin it in just a few months. I find it's rare to have carpet last more than one or two rental cycles. I've thought about laminates (worried about them getting ruined by windows left open though) and ceramic tile (too costly). Does anyone have any reasonable solutions to this problem?
