The laminate in the photos looks outstanding, even after 2 years of rough tenancy. It really does speak volumes to the durability and looks that remain with this product.
Now that you may be replacing the remaining floor coverings in the next year or so, the argument gets even stronger for the laminate in my mind.
I was interested to see how the kitchen laminate held up as I get very, very odd looks when I mention that I have experimented in my last two rehabs by putting laminate in the kitchen.
My original idea was to laminate the largest part of the kitchen (in the double wide) and then use ceramic tile for a few rows around the wet areas such as the sink, counter top and perhaps behind the fridge and stove. I like to use scrape pieces behind the fridge and stove since they are hidden by the appliances but can still be damaged by water etc. from these appliances.
Well I ended up using scrap laminate under some of these spots and then just decided to do the whole floor.
I placed my rows parallel to the counter top with the idea that if I should have to replace some due to subfloor or laminate being damaged by water, I could pull up 2 or 3 rows, repair any subfloor needed and then ceramic tile it if this experimenet failed.
Thanks Ryan.
