Any of your deals before the law takes effect should be grandfathered in, but I don't think having an attorney close the deal will protect you once the regs go into effect. That's why it's so important to contact your elected representatives and express your objection to the bill.
I have been advised that a good way to proceed is to contact your state legislators to express your objections. If enough people do this they will put pressure on the federal representatives in their party to amend the bill.
