Help Building Relationships with Local Banks?

Hi,

We are re-locating to Raleigh, NC from Australia and will be looking for financing in approx 6 months. We have read on this forum many times regarding local/regional banks as a good current option for financing.

We already have a 4-plex in Raleigh financed through Wachovia, and have a 4 year old checking account with BB&T, but want to build other relations with local banks in Raleigh.

What are some initial steps we could take to begin building relationships? Is it just a matter of opening a checking/savings account and building history that way, or, do you need to actually initiate personal contact with the loan officers?

We plan on approaching BB&T for our next purchase but want to build other relations as well.
