My family sold some vacant land in New Mexico many years ago, but the buyer never recorded his Deed at the recorder's office. The family member by now lost all records of this transaction. All these years another member of my family has been paying property tax on the land, not knowing the land had been sold already.
Now what? Stop paying the property tax and let it go to tax sale? If it goes to tax sale and the property is still in my family's name, will it affect our credit rating?
Can we get the property back?
Any ideas, insights from the experts here is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
