Which is the best course/book/program out there

As the subject says, what is the best course/book/program out there and why? (I'm looking to buy ONE)
Also state if you were successful or not with the items that were included in the course or did you have to buy more.
Lastly, how quick were you to get up to speed (and explain why it took so long - i.e. because of a job, etc).
