Wow...I'm glad we aren't family.
Maybe it comes from my humble, blue-collar backround but my family looks out for one another. Very few of my relatives ever made a great deal of money, but we all look out for one another. I guess I don't know why people you have never met are more deserving of any money which you might aquire than the people you love and love you.
If my Father left me enough for a down payment on a house while givning the rest of his money to strangers, I'd probably unzip and give his grave a good watering. If he made 'conditions' on anything, I would tell him exactly where he could 'file' them. He would never do any of that though. He's a good man. The amount of money isn't the issue, it's really 'the thought that counts' here. This is the man that raised me and stuck by me for years growing up, and the man that I am always there for now.
My thinking is:
1)Take care of family unless they have done something not to deserve it
2) Raise your kids right and you won't have to worry so much about them making bad decisions
Just my thoughts.
